Wake up! Sing Your Soul’s Song
Roosters ring in the dawn in my village of Sanggingan, Bali every day. I love that I have a natural alarm cock crowing me awake. I have two cocks wandering in and out of my yard all day: I name them Sam and Mike. Sam’s foot was injured in a fight. He is a hip-hop along cock. He rarely crows anymore. Every time I see him I want to put him out of his misery. Mike is sturdy and brightly colored and loves to strut his stuff. Mike attacks Sam upon site. When Mike does this Sam hops upon my front porch, a safe zone for the poor crippled cock.
I enjoy waking up to cock’s call that acknowledges a bright new dawn. The crowing also says to me: “Look! I am here!” Waking up in this way reminds me that I am fully alive, fully awake and have a role in this planetary play to play.
One morning this little ditty arose after the cock crowed:
Wake up! Sing your soul’s song
Everyday you are born every moment a new dawn
Fly high! You’re a live wire
Slide down the rainbow spiral and become your heart’s desire.
After this ditty dashed through me I jumped out of bed, reborn with faith to leap into my heart’s desire.
The cock’s crow reminds me that I create my heart’s desire every moment. Every moment is a choice. How do I want to live my life? As love.
How do I live a life of love? -Moment to moment, breath by breath, choice by choice.
A Native American Grandfather is sitting by the river with his grandson.
The Grandfather says to the boy: “You know son, there are two wolves fighting inside of me. One is the wolf of fear, greed and hatred. The other is the wolf of love, faith and wonder.”
The grandson asks: “Which one is winning grandfather?”
Grandfather replies: “Whichever one I feed”.
I love this story because it speaks of ‘feeding’ fear or love. It brings our choice into our body, into our feelings and out of our mental addictive patterns. What feeling am I nourishing in this moment? Fear or love? When I feed judgments I feed fear. When I feed wonder I feed love.
We are only truly responsible for the choice we make here and now. Choices create how we live our life.
Each of us our born to sing our true soul’s song into the world just as the cock is born to crow.
Consider the cock alarm a call to Wake up! And Sing your soul’s song!
Radiant Love,
